Agent confirms star midfielder set to leave Chiefs

Earlier this week, soccer laduma reported that the Chiefs were looking to offload Kearyn Baccus and even offered the 30-year-old an exit package during the January transfer window.

Baccus hasn’t enjoyed regular playing time since Stuart Baxter became head coach at the end of last season, and as he now heads into the final stages of his contract, his agent Mike Makaab believes that ‘it is inevitable that there will be no contract extension.

“It is very unlikely that he will sign a new contract at the end of the season,” Makaab said on Gagasi FMQuoted by iDiski Times.

“We will be on the lookout for opportunities for him. It’s disappointing because I think Kearyn is really a top class player, but unfortunately he hasn’t found favor with the current technical squad – and we have to accept that.

“We just have to make sure that we do what is in his best interest… There has been very little movement from their side. If they don’t offer him a contract extension now, it’s clear he’s likely to leave the club at the end of the season.

The Chiefs are currently fourth in the DStv Premiership standings

In total, Baccus has played 48 games for the Glamor Boys but he has only started one game for the Chiefs in the 2021/22 season.

Amakhosi will next be in league action when they face Cape Town City on February 15.
