CONNECTED by Central West Mums, more than 300 women let their hair down and danced the night away at the group’s inaugural Mumfest event in 2019. Having a concert planned in the recent climate will give hundreds of women the chance to gather in Orange on March 12, as the return of the concert approaches. “I’m thrilled to bring women together for Mumfest, because we definitely deserve a night out,” wrote Amorette Zielinski, event host and founder of community resources and support group Central West Mums. “There have been a large number of tree changers in the area during the pandemic, and this event gives them the opportunity to meet other moms, face to face.” To celebrate friendship, community and the shared love of connecting with other women and moms, the plan for the event is to make up for lost time, as hundreds of girls prepare to spiritually benefit from bond formation. “Mumfest is an extension of the strong community built into a Facebook group [which was] created to support new moms, Central West new moms and moms in general who live in Orange,” Ms. Zielinski said. “Despite having access to this online support group, mothers will still face financial pressures, geographic isolation, and question their ability to be a good mother, whatever it is!” [So] women attending the event [can] enjoy a fun-filled evening with mental health, well-being and support all seen as a priority.” They will also celebrate with special guest speaker, Samantha Bloom – two-time parasurf world champion, best-selling author and inspiration behind Australia’s number one Penguin Bloom, box office and international hit from Netflix, “Samantha seemed like a very clear choice in my mind given that she’s a mother like many of us, so he there are a lot of things about her that I think would just be extremely appealing to all women at all levels,” Ms. Zielinski said. “And given that the event will fall on the weekend after International Women’s Day, I wanted to have someone who would be a good representation of strong, brave women – and Samantha is totally that.” Paralyzed in an accident in Thailand in 2013, Samantha Bloom is a global ambassador for Wings For Life – a non-profit spinal cord research foundation – and is an activist among many other spinal cord injury charities around the world as well.” Samantha had an experience that was written about in her book and shown through the movie Penguin Bloom – both of which moved me – and she’s such a big advocate in terms of spinal cord injury awareness,” said Ms. Zielinski: “She’s also a mum of three boys and she’s accomplished so much; I find her simply amazing, and after following her for several years on social networks [social media], she has this authentic side that involves everything that moms and women need to balance their daily lives – which is extremely relevant for all of us. “Sam’s story completely moved me, and we [women] all of us have a lot to deal with that we’re dealing with in one way or another, so, I think she’ll be a wonderful guest speaker for the event to share her story a little more intimately, and I feel like that it will move others too.
