World-renowned chef, restaurateur and humanitarian José Andrés is the keynote speaker at the upcoming Global Produce & Floral Show in October, the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) has announced.
The Global Produce & Floral Show will be three days where the entire global produce and flower supply chains will come together to share innovative solutions, network with purpose and hear from global leaders and experts. The show will be held October 27-29 in Orlando, Florida.
“Our industry has come together in October for years to learn about what’s happening now and what’s happening next,” said Bruce Taylor, CEO of Taylor Farms and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IFPA. “This year, as we mark the first Global Produce & Floral Show, we want to create an experience that challenges our thinking and our expectations. It’s time for us to explore how we can transform the world through our work with produce and flowers. I don’t think there has ever been such an exciting speaker as José Andrés, who truly changes the world with food.
Andrés is well known in the culinary realm as a James Beard award winner who holds two Michelin stars, but he has taken the world stage for his humanitarian work. Chef Andrés established the World Central Kitchen in 2010, not only to empower communities through culinary training programs, but also to feed and provide relief in the aftermath of emergencies and disasters around the world.

“At its core, our industry feeds people around the world,” said Walmart’s new board chair and chief merchandising director Laura Himes. “But as we examine the complexity of our food systems and the disruptions we face globally, there are opportunities to learn from others. I am delighted that José Andrés will take the stage in October to speak not only of the responsibility we have as those who have stepped up to feed the world, but also of the incredible power we have to create a healthier world.
José Andrés has been on the ground in Ukraine where World Central Kitchen has organized local partners and volunteers to serve over six million meals in the surrounding region. World Central Kitchen provided aid in the Philippines cooking for thousands of people in the aftermath of a typhoon as well as in Kentucky last December for communities devastated by a tornado outbreak.
National Geographic recently released the documentary ‘We Feed People’, directed by Ron Howard, which focuses on the evolution of World Central Kitchen’s food aid work and examines their current global impact. The documentary can be viewed on Disney+.
“When we created IFPA, we set as our vision the intention to create a vibrant future for all,” said IFPA CEO Cathy Burns. “Who better than Chef Andrés to join our global produce and flower community and inspire us with his insights and perspectives on how our industry’s products can transform the trajectory of many of the world’s biggest health challenges. , from nutritional insecurity to diet-related chronic diseases. ”
“Changing the World Through the Power of Food – A Conversation with José Andrés” is just one of the sessions taking place at the Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando from October 27-29.
The show will also feature the state of the industry keynote address by IFPA CEO Cathy Burns, a panel of industry leaders, and more.
“When we brought together the two most influential associations in our industry to create a new organization, it wasn’t just about doing more, it was about transforming the industry,” said the CEO of the IFPA, Cathy Burns. “The Global Produce & Floral Show will be the epicenter of innovation and industry connection, and will be where the voice of our industry is galvanized to address the challenges we face and seize the opportunities that are available to us.”
This year, the exhibition will open early for the business solutions segment. This section will include the Food Safety & Tech X-Change and FutureTEC pavilions, showcasing attendees the latest products and services from leading innovators, entrepreneurs and new exhibitors. An early opening for this segment means many don’t have to divide their time between finding solutions for their business and showing up on their own stands.
