Motivational speaker accused of sexually assaulting male college students


KUALA TERENGGANU: A man was indicted today in sessional court here on 11 counts of sexual assault against nine male students in a university hostel here, between March and November 11 of this year.

Muhd Khairul Azhar Ali, 36, a speaker who also voluntarily motivated the hostel’s students, pleaded not guilty after all charges were read to him before Judge Nooriah Osman.

On counts 1 to 7, the accused was charged with committing physical sexual assault against seven students, aged 17 and 16, at the hostel, between March and November 11, 2021.

As for the other four counts, the man was charged with committing the same act against two students, both aged 17, on November 10 and 11.

He has been charged under section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017, which carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and flogging if convicted. .

The court granted the accused a total bond of RM 26,000 in one bond and ordered him to report to the police station every month until the case was resolved and set January 11, 2022, for a further mention of the case.
