The highly anticipated “KDU Logistics Day 2022” at General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University (KDU), hosted by the Technical and Management Sciences Society of the Department of Management and Finance (TSMS), Faculty of management, social sciences and humanities, was solemnly celebrated on June 1, 2022 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, KDU.

Despite the challenges faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic crisis in the country, TSMS was able to successfully organize KDU Logistics Day 2022 as a physical event. Most importantly, thanks to the dedication of the organizing team led by President Udul Kalapuge and supported by Vice Presidents Malmi Weerakkody and Roshel Perera, Secretary Lihini Seneviratne and Treasurer Hiruni Yapa, the society was able to raise the bar. of the event by making “KDU Logistics Day 2022”, one of the most successful Logistics Day events at KDU.

This event centered on the timely and important theme of “Resilient Supply Chains in the Face of Economic Challenges in the Next Normal” was graced by Chief Guest, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Mphil, Vice -chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University, Guest of Honor Ms. Sujani Kumarasighe, Head of Customer Experience at Maersk Lanka (Pvt.) After the speeches of the Head of Department, Department of Management and Finance, Dr. Wasantha Premarathne, the Dean of the Faculty, Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga and the Vice-Chancellor Major General Milinda Peiris, The keynote speaker, Ms. Gayathri Karunanayake, Supply Chain Consultant at Logicare (Pvt) Ltd, shared her valuable knowledge and expertise with the audience, followed by the keynote address delivered by Mr. Chintaka de Zoysa, Director of ‘a subsidiary of Hayleys Advantis Group, sharing invaluable experience in industry change.

The grand launching ceremony of “Logistics Times: 7th Edition”, Sri Lanka’s first-ever logistics magazine, also took place on this occasion, thanks to the tireless efforts of Editor Kalpa Chathubhashini, Co-Editor Niroshini Karunaratne and of the entire editorial board. .

The panel discussion moderated by Professor Dinesh Samarasighe of Moratuwa University with top industry professionals including Mr. Ibrahim Saleem of Hayleys Advantis Ltd, Mr. Sathiyenthra Panchadcharam of Nestle Lanka PLC and Ms. Dhashma Karunaratne of Aitken Spence Maritime & Freight The logistics cluster added considerable value to the whole event and provided valuable information to the audience.

The panel discussion was followed by the presentation of awards to the winners of the 2022 Logistics Times Article Competition in the undergraduate and postgraduate categories, and the selection of winners was carried out through a standard judging process. The competition was also open to various universities and industry professionals.

KDU Logistics Day 2022 was enriched with glamorous dancing and singing items that showcased the aesthetic talents of KDU students, and this important three-hour event concluded with the vote of thanks being cast by Udul Kalapuge, the President of Technical and Management Sciences.
