When summer vacation is over, you can have peace of mind knowing that there are many helpful resources right here in Bladen County that can help students be successful in their school year. Whether you are a student or parent of a student, this information is good to know.

The Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown and its branches in Clarkton and Bladenboro are great resources on their own, not even considering the “extras” offered by the public library. By visiting one of our public libraries in Bladen County, you have access to a variety of books and information and a safe space to study, read, or just relax. Additionally, internet access, printing services, and more can be very helpful to students.

Library Director Sheila Nance shared the following information:

“The library continues to provide free student access to all Bladen County school students. All they need is their student ID to view books and access e-books and audiobooks. »

Additionally, on Thursday, August 11, BCPL presents a school supply distribution event with special guests from Bladen County Emergency Services. While supplies last, school supplies will be distributed to students in kindergarten through 12th grade, who must be present to receive the supplies. The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at BCPL’s main branch in Elizabethtown.

BCPL would like to thank Jeffrey Rogerson with WoodmenLife Chapter 262, as well as New Light Church Kidz Point for their donations to the School Supplies Giveaway.

Another school supply giveaway will take place at Helping Hands of the Community (66 E Green Street in Clarkton) on August 13 from noon to 4 p.m., while supplies last. There will be school supplies, hot dogs, treats, face paint and bouncy houses.
