Citizen’s Climate Lobby’s Sara Ann Mason is guest speaker at Thursday’s LWV Luncheon with a Leader – Los Alamos Reporter

The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos community event, Lunch with a Leader, will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 18 via Zoom.

The speaker is Sara Ann Mason from Citizen’s Climate Lobby (CCL). This group enables everyday people to work with their community and members of Congress on solutions to climate change.

Their supporters span the political spectrum and work in more than 450 local chapters. Together, they build support for a national, bipartisan solution to climate change.

This presentation will discuss how CCA engages the five levers of political will:

  • Lobbying Congress;
  • Media Relations;
  • Grassroots awareness;
  • Grass Tops Engagement; and
  • Developing and organizing groups – to motivate Congress to bring about the political change we need for a livable world.

Mason is originally from Houston, Texas, but moved to Los Alamos about five years ago after completing a doctorate in Spanish at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Since moving to New Mexico, she has worked as an administrative assistant, quality assurance specialist, and most recently as a business analyst. She became interested in the climate after watching her home state experience devastating weather events while dealing with the ever-present fire danger here in New Mexico. Outside of work and volunteering, Mason enjoys owning a cat, lifting weights, and cooking a great meal.
