Expensive experience at Disney now feels lackluster due to supply shortages

Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are constantly evolving, trying to improve the guest experience at the parks and developing new and innovative technologies for park attractions and expansions. With the latest additions, Avengers Campus and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the experience when visiting the parks has only gotten better for so many guests.

However, many visitors find the Disney parks lacking since reopening, with poor experiences over cleanliness, food quality, merchandise inventory, supply chain and even Cast Member attitude.

Redditor u/letsthinkaboutthis_ recently shared his experience trying to build a lightsaber at Savi’s workshop at Disneyland, commenting that he’s wanted to do it for years.

They comment that the Cast Members informed them that they had no more scrap for elemental nature, the theme this guest originally wanted, and that they don’t think they will receive any more, forcing them to choose protection and defense, an alternative. they had considered before. This guest adds that he felt disappointed that the expensive experience didn’t offer different parts to have variety, as he was given extra parts of the ones he already had instead of the other included options in the theme he had selected.

The original poster comments that as they were leaving the experience, the cast members said they would not allow them to change any parts, and when the guest asked if they could completely change their saber, they were told they couldn’t do it. That is. They warn all other Redditors and guests wishing to build a lightsaber of their experience and advise them to wait for new sabers to be released, as current options are minimal and Cast Members are not helpful. They add that guests should either save their money or purchase an heirloom saber from the Dok-Ondar Antiquities Den, mentioning that they wish they had been informed a bit more in-depth to make a different decision when they visit.

In a later comment, the author of the original announcement adds that when they tried to cancel their reservation due to missing parts, the cast members told them they would be charged anyway since would not cancel their reservation at least one day in advance, as the cancellation policy for this experience says so. They say it’s “not very magical,” but that seems to be the way Disney has been handling things lately.

The official Disneyland website states this policy as follows:

There is a one day cancellation policy. You must cancel at least one day before your reservation to avoid cancellation fees by the manufacturer. If you fail to cancel in a timely manner and do not show up, the credit card provided at time of booking will be charged the full price of the product, currently $219.99, per manufacturer.

During an update, the original poster states that they called Merchandise Services, who instructed them to return to Savi and explain the situation to a manager. They were nice and listened to the guest’s story, saying they weren’t offering the missing pieces to the guests, but would check to see if they had scrap metal, which they did, but which they treated very “muffled” in the words of the original poster. . They were cast aside and given the role they were looking for, and when they asked about “new tracks,” referring to the new plays announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, the cast member cast laughed and said they had no idea when they would arrive. .

Although this situation has been resolved for the affected guest, several other items have still become unavailable to guests. We recently saw comments saying that purple Kyber crystals are not available to guests when building their lightsabers at Savi.

Earlier this year, Guests experienced another major flaw in the experience, as Disney Parks stopped providing free cases and instead provided plastic bags while charging Guests full price, sparking anger. indignation of visitors who, again, referred to the fact that it is an expensive and premium vehicle. experience, and that a suitable solution should have been offered to the Guests.

We’ve also seen reviews online commenting on customer disappointment after being unable to find Holocrons at Dok Ondar. On a personal note, we’ve been searching for a Sith Holocron since September 2021, with no success at Disneyland or Disney World. During a recent trip, we saw that several items, including clothing, jewelry, phone accessories, and toys, were sold out and, according to several cast members, have been for some time.

At the time of this article’s publication, Disney had not released any official statement regarding these supply shortages, which continually affect the experience of Guests while visiting the park.

Guests had begged Disney to add different characters from the star wars universe since Black Spire Outpost opened in 2019. However, this had not been realized due to the strict place in the timeline in which Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge exists.

Until now, Batuu had been placed between the events of the second and third films in Disney’s sequel trilogy, Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017) and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019), which means key characters from the original trilogy like Millennium Falcon pilot Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) have passed away.
