Tiffin, Ohio— Heidelberg University President Robert H. Huntington announced that comedian, writer and actress Tracey Ashley, a former student from Heidelberg, will address the class of 2022 as keynote speaker at the launch on Sunday. May 15 at the Hoernemann stadium.
With a career spanning over 20 years, Ashley has performed at comedy clubs, corporate events, college campuses, the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. His comedy has captivated audiences around the world with its charm, wit, and unique yet relatable perspective on the daily challenges and triumphs of relationships, family, and being yourself. She continues to write and perform and will be seen in an upcoming comedy special filmed at Netflix’s Is A Joke Comedy Festival 2022.
Currently, Ashley is the head writer and co-executive producer of HBO’s Emmy-winning show. A dark lady sketch show. She recently launched her half-hour special on the Netflix series Tiffany Haddish Presents They’re Ready. She was a featured comic, opening for Tracy Morgan on her 75-city comedy tour and starring on Wanda Sykes Presents: Herlarious on CLEAN. She made it to the semi-finals, appearing on NBC Season 5 Last Standing Comic.
Ashley became a writer on season 2 of the hit TBS series The last OG, starring Tracy Morgan and executive produced by Jordan Peele. She also appeared on the show as a beauty salon owner named “Ms. Ashley. Additionally, she was a writer on the hit CBS series The neighborhoodstarring Cedric the Entertainer, for three seasons, also appearing as “Wanda” in Season 2.
While in Heidelberg, Ashley was national and state champion speech team, along with her teammates. She received her BA in 1991 in Communication and Theater Arts and is a Fellow of the Philalethean Society. She is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild.
Additionally, Heidelberg will be holding baccalaureate services on Saturday, May 14. Alumnus Rev. David Long-Higgins, Class of 1984, Conference minister of the United Church of Christ’s Heartland Conference, will deliver the baccalaureate sermon.
