How Abuja police extorted 500,000 naira from motivational speaker after calling him an IPOB member

Life coach and motivational speaker Solomon Buchi recounted how the men in the Federal Capital Territory Police Command extorted N500,000 from him.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday night, the relationship coach said he and his younger brother were assaulted and treated like criminals by the police.

He added that they were labeled as members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Buchi said: “My little brother and I were kidnapped by the police in Abuja, around Wuse, a few hours ago after eating. They quickly doubled our turn, took out some weapons and asked us to follow them in their car which was not a police vehicle.

“On entering they asked where we were from, I said we were Igbos from Imo state, they immediately said we were members of IPOB, they pushed us into their car. ; they were five policemen.

“Long story short, they took our ATMs and withdrew N 500,000 out of the N 617,000 I had in my account. They took the 50,000 N from my little brother. I begged them it was my upkeep money for my stay, but they physically went over me, slapped me, and asked me to use the N117,000 for myself.

“By the way, they stopped at a crossroads, and one of them took off his police uniform and went to collect the money using a point of sale!” They also wanted to transfer our crypto. Dude, I can’t even speak. I am traumatised. After all, they brought us back to town (Utako where I stay …)

“They looked for a dark place, unlocked the handcuffs, and gave us our phones and cards. They took my new AirPods and valuables. Phew. This was not the plan at all. I felt so overwhelmed and heavily abused.
