FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) – The Indiana Auto Auction held a fundraiser on Wednesday to benefit Northeast Indiana Cancer Services.
The guest speaker was Joe Theismann, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback with the Washington Redskins in the NFL and earlier with the Fighting Irish in Notre Dame. Theismann said he enjoys sharing his personal stories and experiences, especially if it helps fight cancer.
“I think one of the things we have to understand in our world is that we are put on this earth to serve people so as not to be served. And I think it’s a great way to reach out and help someone you might not know someone and if you haven’t been touched by cancer God bless you ” , Theismann said.
Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana “provides resources, information and compassionate assistance” through programs and services. The organization’s website said it offered financial assistance for cancer-related expenses, personalized supportive advice, a loan of durable medical equipment, home care supplies, transportation assistance, a massage therapy and exercise.
The total raised during the event has not been disclosed.
