Padma Bridge will open new door of economic potential: Speaker







Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Chairperson Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said on Saturday that the Padma Bridge will open a new door of multi-dimensional economic potential in the country.

“The Padma Bridge is the perfect reflection of the honesty, indomitable courage, determination and wisdom of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the Nation Father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said. while speaking as a chief guest at a seminar at CIRDAP Auditorium in Dhaka, reports BSS.

The Awami League Information and Research Sub-Committee organized the seminar titled “The Construction of Padma Bridge by Sheikh Hasina: A Historic Victory for Bangladesh as well as Developing Countries in the Global System”.

Chaired by the Prime Minister’s Financial Advisor, Dr Mashiur Rahman, the seminar was also addressed by, among others, Minister of State for Planning, Dr Samsul Alam, Economist Dr M Kholiquzzaman, former Commissioner Chief Information Officer, Dr. Golam Rahman and former Vice Chancellor of BRAC University and Dr. Ainun Nishat, international expert in water resources management and climate change.

The Secretary for Information and Research of the Bangladesh Awami League, Dr. Selim Mahmood, delivered the keynote address for the seminar.

The speaker congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for completing the construction of the long-cherished Padma Bridge.

Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s statement, the speaker said, “Padma Bridge is not just a bridge made of bricks and stones, it is connected with passion, self-confidence, love and the pride of millions of Bangalis”.

“This bridge is a complete reflection of the people’s trust in the Prime Minister. Therefore, the construction of the ‘Padma Bridge’ is a symbol of the reversal of this country, a symbol of self-reliance, a symbol of not accepting defeat. and a symbol of victory,” said Dr. Shirin.

She said the Padma Bridge will revolutionize the industry by linking the ports of Mongla and Payra. The bridge will contribute to the country’s overall GDP growth by creating domestic and international business opportunities, especially in South Asia, and improve the socio-economic and living standards of people in the Southwest.

The speaker hopes the bridge will be seen as a milestone for the development of people living on the banks of the Padma River.

Dr Shirin said the Padma Bridge is proof of Bangladesh’s progress in defeating all conspiracies, adding, “The World Bank withdrew its funding from the Padma Bridge based on the notion of corruption. Such a conspiratorial decision is in direct conflict with the aims and objectives of the World Bank.”

She said no obstacle could hold back the Bangali nation. The father of the Bangabandhu Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman never lowered his head on the issue of the language movement, the independence of Bangladesh and the rights of the people.

“As a result, we got the Bangla language and independence. Likewise, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the dream of ‘Padma Bridge’ to the people of Bangladesh, destroying hundreds of obstacles,” said Dr Shirin .

Referring to her son and daughter’s remarks on the Padma Bridge, she said that the new generation thinks that the Padma Bridge is a wake-up call for self-reliance.

“The Padma Bridge is a combined effort of strong leadership and strong unity. This awareness of the young generation will lift Bangladesh to a unique height – Bangladesh will step forward,” the speaker said. .

Eminent personalities, leaders and workers from different levels of the Awami League, guests and senior officials from the Jatiya Sangsad secretariat and media personalities joined the seminar.
