Redmond Confirmed as LATIF/FDs Summit Keynote Speaker

Sir Tony Redmond, Chairman of Nottingham City Council’s Improvement and Insurance Committee, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the Local Authority Treasurers’ Investment Forum (LATIF) and Room151’s FD Summit.

The event, which will take place in London on September 13, is considered the annual must-attend event for local authority cash managers, section 151 officers, chief financial officers and their teams. Over 200 delegates are expected, making this year’s LATIF/FDs Summit the largest yet.

Redmond, who carried out an independent review for the government on financial reporting and external auditing of local authorities, will discuss reflections on his review two years later, as well as general reflections on financial resilience and governance in the sector .

Other new speakers confirmed this week include: Justine Greening, President of the Purpose Coalition and former Secretary of State for the Departments of Education, Transportation, and International Development; Neil Harris, the first director of local audit at the Financial Reporting Council; and John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle.

Over 200 delegates are expected, making this year’s LATIF/FDs Summit the largest yet.

Local upgrade and growth

Dame Meg Hillier, Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, will also deliver a keynote address. It will cover local leveling and growth funds, Whitehall budgets and danger points and challenges for local government.

Previously announced speakers at the event include: Clive Betts, Chair of the Upgrading, Housing and Communities Committee; Carol Culley, Deputy Chief Executive and City Treasurer, Manchester City Council; Becky Hellard, Strategic Director of Council Management, Birmingham City Council; Alison Ring, Director of Public Sector and Taxation, ICAEW; Alison Scott, president of the Society of District Council Treasurers; and Chris Tambini, president of the Society of County Treasurers.

LATIF and the FDs’ Summit will take place on September 13 at the etc venues St Paul conference center in central London. Attendance is free for local government treasurers and Section 151 officers.
