The iPhone 14 Pro’s camera is built for big things, but night mode needs work

According to a new internet tip, the iPhone 14 Pro’s camera system performs great before launch, but there are some concerns about Night mode.

tipster LeaksApplePro took to Twitter with some interesting claims about the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, based on a source who has apparently gotten his hands dirty with both phones.

The thread outlines some of the things we’ve already heard about Apple’s next high-end smartphone refresh, including that it will have a new “pill + hole” notch and that the range is set for a battery bump.

There are, however, some interesting new ideas here. The main one is that the main 48MP camera in the iPhone 14 Pro range is “the best in a smartphone if there’s enough light”.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are suggested to have issues with Night mode, which currently produces “a substantial amount of noise” and results “worse than the iPhone 13 Pro”.

Of course, Apple’s Night Mode is more about smart algorithms than fancy hardware, so solving this problem would likely be a matter of fine-tuning on Apple’s part. It’s a little worrying considering we’re probably about a month away from launch, though.

Another interesting claim is that Apple has improved its already market-leading stereo speakers for the iPhone 14 Pro line, with more bass and “overall clearer sound”.

We are now waiting to hear about Apple’s launch event for the iPhone 14 family, which this same source has already indicated for September 13.
